Company Profile
Metaldec
International

Metaldec since 1992
Introduction:
Metaldec was founded in 1992 under
Chamber of Commerce nr: 20067712 with the
aim to develop sophisticated metal detection equipment
for sale and rent. It started directly with developing
the first special metal detector followed up by a number
of types which had more capabilities.
At the beginning of the year 2000
the company was reorganized and has been, among other
things, focused on sale, rent, import and export of
innovative product solutions for the detection market in
general. Moreover, Metaldec have made big steps forward
in the trade, sale and rent of equipment meant for
hydrographical, underwater and land-mobile applications
such as sonar, navigation, magnetometers, metal
detectors and diving equipment.
The Hydrographical and land-mobile
survey branch had already from 1995 on, experienced a
particular increase concerning an important development
in the detection, inspection and salvage of divergent
objects in and on the bottom, under and above water with
the use of up mentioned equipment, among other things.
History and expansion:
 Around
June 1993 the core business shifted to tailored made metal
detectors, especially for the industry and particularly designed
for assembly on a conveyor belt system in a production line.
Soon after, (very) sophisticated metal detectors for land-mobile
or field applications were also developed.

As from end of 1993 there appeared a large
demand for metal detectors for underwater use among with
hand-held metal detectors for professional diving operations but
also there was a demand for reliable magnetometers so at the
time Metaldec started to produce these devices.
Metaldec then decided to gather an
international team existing from experts in extremely
diverse areas such as:
Sonar, Radar, Magnetometry, Geology, Geophysics, Geo acoustics,
Electronics, Software,
Diving, Geo radar (GPR), Navigation, Positioning, Shipping and
more.
The foundation had been laid and Metaldec developed into an
internationally operating company where the activities reached
out as far as Asia and the name Metaldec changed in Metaldec
International.
The people within the established team
with their respectively specializations are put into action in
prospecting, inspection and/or salvage operations of a very
divergent nature where mainly sonar, visual imaging and active
or passive metal detection systems are used.

With sonar it is meant that a sonar device
transmits a sound to an object where the returning echo is used
to determine the location or for analytical purposes. Most sonar
devices are able to generate images of an object in such a way
that it frequently seems as if it was created by a conventional
video or photo camera.
By visual-imaging mainly the inspection
and/or analysis is meant which is carried out with a camera that
operates in the visual or thermal, infra-red or ultraviolet
spectrum.
With active metal detection it is meant that the metal detector
transmits an electromagnetic field to an object in order to
localize it or to determine the composition by analyzing.
Passive metal detection mostly is referring to a magnetometer
which measures the earth magnetic field or anomalies, created by
Ferro metal objects or natural causes in the vicinity of this
field by measuring the differences in field intensity in
repetitive time intervals.

ACTIVITIES:
Metaldec
International develops, produces and (re)sells divergent
detection equipment. Also land-mobile and hydrographical surveys
are carried out and form an important component of the
activities in the use of metal detection, sonar detection and
(GPS) navigation or (GPS) positioning with GIS applications.
Hydrographical surveys:
Within the hydrographic
survey branch, the detection concerns mainly prospecting,
inspection and possible salvage underwater of very divergent
objects.
This
comprehends, among other things, the underwater detection of
cables, pipelines, plane wrecks, shipwrecks, sunken cars, lost
cargos and unfortunately also drowning victims.
Drowning victims
(special note):
Since it has proven to be of large value to
Metaldec and a lot of aid agencies, it is appointed especially
that
tracing and localizing
drowning victims belong to the possibilities of
particularly Side-scan sonar equipment. Saying this, the sonar
must be considered as an extension of the standard possibilities
with a rather large special added value.
Land-mobile surveys:
In the land-mobile survey branch, among other
things, belongs the prospecting, inspection and detection of a
variety of objects, buried in the bottom like cables, pipelines,
ammunition, lost objects, (concrete) constructions, metal
objects and more.
In the land-mobile survey branch, also
belongs the examining of constructions or art works above ground
such as the detection of reinforcement bars, piping in floors,
walls and ceilings but also concealed weapons, product
inspection in production lines and more. |

PROSPECTING ON LAND:
For detection on land one can
think of for example (oil)tanks, cables, ammunition (UXO), lost
components of agriculture vehicles, weapons but also geological
research where anomalies in geomagnetism is frequently measured.
At the right-hand side is shown such a project where was
surveyed with "Pulse-Induction" equipment and "Magnetometers" in
order to find hidden stone foundations. It was known that the
building stones would cause an anomaly in the earth magnetic
field. |

DEVELOPMENT:
Metaldec
is constantly busy with renewing and further development of,
among other things, metal detection systems, intended for
mounting on a conveyor belt production line.
One of the strong points of Metaldec is the capacity to develop
and produce tailored made metal detection equipment to meet the
customers wish.
Moreover developments are also done of specially on demand, not
yet existing, metal detection equipment for many applications.

SURVEY & SALVAGE
UNDERWATER:
To meet
and realize the aim of prospecting, inspection, detection and/or
salvage of many different kind of objects, Metaldec
decided, beside de use of the mentioned detection equipment, to
arrange the necessary diving equipment and an international dive
team of competent and certified divers, specialized in salvage
and deep dives (usable up to on 350 meters depth)
On an international scale there are many carried out survey and
salvage operations in order to locate and salvage for example
planes, shipwrecks, lost cargos and more. Also locating and
repatriating drowning victims of naval disasters unfortunately
occur sometimes. |
